CHULPAN – THE MOTHER

A film is about my felt installation "Jort", which I built in 2018.

"Jort" is a big walk-in object in the form of a snail, which symbolizes my house between the worlds.

Chulpan – translated from the Tatar language means Venus. The installation is like a big soft breast, round, warm and protective like a pregnant belly.

Four years stood „Jort“ outside, not protected from weather, rain, wind, snow and heat. In spring the birds pecked out wool for their nests, the wooden construction inside shifted gradually and the snail became like an ancient animal.

This film is a portrait of the „Jort“, about a mother-body – an old house, weathered, destroyed, abandoned, but still alive.
